The next morning, Lucia was still catching up on sleep when the doorbell downstairs rang.
The maid carried a huge velvet gift box upstairs and knocked on the main bedroom door with trembling hands. "Donna Lucia, you have a delivery."
Lucia sat up in her robe, her entire body sore. She rubbed her temples and motioned for the maid to set it down.
When the lid opened, a high-end porcelain tea set rested inside. It was the same brand Lucia had loved during her university days in Ederland. A handwritten card rested beside it.
"I heard you enjoy black tea. I hoped this set might suit your taste. I look forward to our next conversation on supply chain matters."
The card was signed by Lorenzo.
Lucia frowned. Lorenzo was outrageously bold. Alessandro had almost broken the hand that held out that business card last night, and yet Lorenzo still had the nerve to send a gift today.
"Throw it out," Lucia said as she closed the lid, her voice still rough with sleep.
