The Meeting
LILTH’S POV
My feet were glued to the same spot. Not because I wanted to, but because my body forgot how to move.
I was still looking at the person standing a few steps away from me, my eyes tracing the familiar lines of his face and trying in vain to search for the mistake, or rather the trick my mind was surely playing on me.
But this was not a trick. This was real. He was real… Gary. He looked older, and thinner.
But….it was him. He was breathing…Alive.
My chest instantly grew tight.
My mouth opened before my thoughts could catch up.
“Gary…?” I called doubtfully.
“I….I thought you died.”
There was an uncertain pause as silence prevailed between us.
Gary didn’t rush to speak.
He just stood there, his shoulders slightly hunched, his face carrying years it shouldn’t have had to carry.
After some time I noticed that something was flashing in his eyes now, something sensitive as if one wrong move might shatter the moment.
