THIRD PERSON POV
When Lucian returned to his room moments later after the calls, his steps were unhurried.
The door closed gently behind him. His expression had not yet fully revived.
It was obvious that thoughts on the previous matter were still moving behind his eyes.
As for Isabella, she did not waste time noticing this too. She had been seated on the edge of the bed since leaving, one leg crossed over the other, posture loose but watchful.
She had felt the shift the moment his phone started to ring. Picturing the sharp stuff that had appeared on his shoulders.
And the way his voice had lowered on the phone.
Nevertheless, she waited. She allowed the silence stretch to some reasonable extent.
Lucian soon moved to the chair near the window and sat with one of his arms resting along the back, his gaze hardly focusing.
Isabella didn’t rush him. She knew how silence invited more questions when used correctly.
Finally, she spoke, her tone casual and almost idle.
