Chapter 147
ALEXANDER’S POV
Days passed in a blur. I spent most of my time with maps and other documents on the desk of my war room.
The maps laid open before me had become an extension of my mind.
I had creases on my fingers from writing too much and my eyes were red because I could barely sleep. My voice was hoarse from barking out orders and directives.
Yet we barely made any progress. Isabella was still gone.
Still out there.
Still out of reach.
Edmund sat beside me. He was just as tired as I was. His normally neat uniform was wrinkled.
Together, we kept looking. We looked at messages, merchant routes, and border crossings. Nothing felt concrete.
But we didn’t stop.
We couldn’t.
It was Eliza who kept me from unraveling.
Every time I was too tired and every time I wanted to run mad because of the frustration, she was there.
She would place her hand on my cheek to calm me down or she would kiss me and every time she did that, my wolf would calm down.
And so would I.
She was the calmness I needed
