Elijah leaned back slightly on the sofa, lazily glancing at Giselle before turning to Eleanor with a look of mock grievance.
"Grandma, I'm your grandson. You can't always favor Giselle."
Eleanor chuckled. "Oh? Looks like someone's learned how to compete for attention."
Elijah nodded without hesitation. "I do get a little jealous. You used to favor me the most, Grandma."
Eleanor shook her head. Though her expression showed a hint of disapproval, her smile was genuine. She was truly happy that Elijah had returned.
As the three of them chatted and laughed together, Callie's eyes flickered with calculation. She moved to sit beside Elijah and raised her hand as if to link her arm with his.
But Eleanor suddenly spoke up. "Callie, come sit next to me. I have so much to talk to you about."
Callie glared at Elijah with frustration. She had expected him to intervene, but he seemed to be ignoring her entirely. Left with no choice, Callie sat back down on Eleanor's other side and shot Gisel
