Chapter 387
Charles's chest tightened a little, and he instinctively turned to see Kimberly standing at the doorway, staring him down like a hawk.
He still remembered when she had first married him—just like Maddy back then, soft and a little timid, the kind that looked easy to push around.
But now...
Charles frowned, unable to figure out how Kimberly had turned into what she was today.
"Take it. Your grandma left this for you," he said, his voice unconsciously softening.
Maddy glanced over at Kimberly.
She didn't want to take anything from Charles without thinking it through.
Surprisingly, Kimberly didn't snap at anyone—just calmly asked, "This is from Mom, meant for my daughter. When Jenny pretended to be her and came home, why didn't you give it then? Planning to keep it for yourself?"
"You seriously..." Charles took a deep, angry breath. "Can't you talk like a normal person? The moment Jenny came back, I could tell she wasn't my daughter. You think I didn't need a couple days to double-check?"
