Even though Alessandro hadn't officially announced the postponement of his and Lucia's wedding, all preparations had silently halted. The flowers that'd been specially flown in to decorate the wedding venue had been left to slowly wither away in the corner—just like how Lucia's heart was left to grow cold and stiff. Alessandro wouldn't let Elena stay in the villa. Instead, he let her stay in an even more elusive and luxurious hilltop estate the Rossi family owned. Even though Alessandro claimed that it was to let Elena rest and be away from the troubles of the city, everyone still knew that he practically made that place his second home. He would go over every single day to spend time with her, listening to her go on about all the "hardships" she'd gone through in the past eight years. Alessandro eagerly tried to make things up to Elena. He devoted all his time, resources, and attention to her, trying to compensate her for everything that he'd owed her in the past eight years.
