The wedding preparations were in full swing. Alessandro devoted a never-before-seen amount of patience and effort to it, tending to major things like the guest list and to trivial matters like which flowers to arrange on the guests' tables. He rejected every proposal reminiscent of Elena's style, instead basing all decisions on Lucia's preferences. A long-lost sense of joy permeated the villa. Even though Lucia was busy every single day, it was still good work. She discussed bouquet designs with the floral designer and decided on cake flavors with the dessert chef. She wore a genuine smile all the time, and she even began learning to manage the family's account books. Alessandro was overjoyed by this and gave her full access to everything. Everything seemed so wonderful that it felt like a dream. One afternoon, Lucia went to the garden to cut roses from their bushes to arrange a centerpiece for dinner that night.
