Caleb wondered if that was truly what Matthew meant. Was he really not fond of killing? How could he even say that?

Caleb shook his head like a rattle. "No, not at all. You're the most honest, kind, and decent person I've ever seen. You're a doctor who saves lives, an angel in white."
Matthew's expression softened. He nodded seriously and said, "Angel in white might be too much, but honest, kind, and decent fits me well. I really am that kind of person."
His voice got lower as he spoke. He truly had been like that in the past. Even when he was in prison, he saved many inmates and guards
