Chapter 201 Get Out
"Your wife?" Tristan laughed. "You mean the wife you personally cast aside? The one you let your fiancée set up and frame, who nearly died out there alone? And the one whose funeral you already held?"
"Luther." Cressida finally spoke, her voice completely flat. "Have you forgotten what I told you? I wouldn't give you a second chance even if you were the last man on earth. Get out."
Those words shattered Luther's last hope. He stumbled backward, staring in disbelief at the woman in Tristan's arms. The finality in her expression was something he'd never seen before. He turned and fled, too humiliated to stay another second.
The door closed behind him, and the room returned to silence.
Tristan let go of Cressida and looked down at her.
"Now, there are no more distractions." He picked up where they'd left off. "Have you figured out how you're going to take responsibility for me?"
She looked up at him, saw that stubborn determination in his eyes, and suddenly felt completely drained.
