The Damage She Ought to Hide
Lilith’s pov
Refusal felt like winning. But as I lay in bed, still clutching to my neck where he’d gripped and choked me. The pain was horrible. It felt new. It seemed to have been put there to remind me of something; winning was delusional.
But the pain was not as vicious as the pain of not getting messaged by Damien. I reached out for my phone under the pillow, grabbed it with careful fingers and clicked. The screen hasn’t changed. It was still blank. No messages from Damien.
Very unlike him.
I thought of what to do. Nothing came up. My mind was as blank as the phone’s screen. I touched my neck once again. It itched. The pain felt like I was stung. Like a curse. A strong unbreakable one.
I rolled out of bed, strutted to the mirror in my room.
There, I saw it, a red mark left by Lucien’s tough hands. I ran a careful finger on it. No one should see this. Not Isabella with her endless drama. Not Damien with his caring fingers. Maybe, not even Sophie with her prying eyes.
