Chapter 151
ELIZA’S POV
I was drowning in fire and screams.
The fire scorched my skin. Its heat was unbearable.
I could feel the jagged spear ripping into my side.
The spear was sharp, painful and it stole the breath from me.
A scream tore from my throat, but it was swallowed by the chaos around me. Voices floated around me.
They sounded distant. I could hear Alexander shouting, Isabella crying, and the distant howls of wolves.
Pain spread through me. My breaths were heavy and shallow. The world around me blurred. All I could see was a haze of shadows and light, spinning around me.
And then slowly, painfully—my eyelids fluttered.
Light came into my vision. The light was too bright. It was nothing like the warm sun or the room lighting I was used to.
The air was filled with the smell of antiseptic and herbs. The room was silent except for the sound of a beeping machine.
I blinked, struggling to focus.
My head was heavy as if it was filled with lead. And then, I saw Alexander.
