“I know that Victoria has asked you not to send us any invites, but you know that you want to. You can at least do this for us, sir,” I said, hating the way my voice sounded. Pleading with businessmen was the one thing that I didn't like doing.
It built up their ego, and I couldn't even blame them. I needed the parties and the invites to be able to socialize and make an impression about my outfits.
Lucien was behind me, massaging my shoulders as I talked to Mr. Rick.
“It would be too risky,” he said, and I could imagine him scratching his head. He was going to be accepting within minutes. He was already considering it.
“I assure you, sir. You won't regret it one bit. You would ask yourself questions why you haven't invited us all this while.”
