Chapter 263 Staying Together
William remained silent, careful not to disturb Jeanette.
Jeanette truly needed the rest. The moment she got into the car, she closed her eyes. Less than three minutes later, she was fast asleep.
She slept quietly beside him. Fast asleep, she had no awareness of herself, and her head slowly began to tip to the side.
William shifted closer to her, then gently guided her head onto his shoulder.
She was very light. When she leaned against him, there was barely any weight at all.
Her cheeks looked soft. From this angle, her profile looked calm and obedient, nothing like the way she usually sparred with him. He felt his chest tighten slightly.
He lowered his voice and said to Hank, "Drive slower. Keep it steady. Take the long way if you need to."
Hank nodded.
The space fell silent, filled only with the sound of quiet breathing.
William wasn't thinking about anything else. He just wanted Jeanette to get some proper rest. There was no rush to get home.
Even if it wasn't comfortable
