Seven days passed too quickly.
I stood in front of the main door of the Nightveil mansion, staring at the suitcases neatly arranged in the trunk of the car. The morning sun bathed the yard in soft light, but my heart felt heavy.
Mom came out of the nursery, holding Celine for the last time before their departure. Her face was radiant, even though her eyes were teary.
“She's so sweet,” Mom whispered, kissing Celine's forehead gently. “I'm going to miss her so much. And Alaric too.”
Dad stood next to Kaelos, holding Alaric with a loving gaze. “This little soldier will grow up to be a great Alpha,” he said, his voice a little hoarse. “I can feel it.”
“We'll make sure of that, Alpha Bastian,” Kaelos said respectfully, though I could see the tenderness in his eyes—the way he looked at my father now was different from when they first met. They were already like father and son.
